A Day's Scavving [Rick Hughes, Goodnight Loving, Murdock - CLOSED]

You notice the furniture and nothing else.

Content with the room and breathing a sigh of relief, Goodnight closed the lid of his lighter and walked out the bedroom; closing the door quietly behind him and calling out to the others, "Nothing here guys, lets carry on down the corridor." He jogged out the room to the other two. "What did you find?" He said to the other two.

Murdock shakes his head, "wasters." And heads up the stairwell

Hughes looks back at his partners, smiling a bit. He turns back to the stairwell and heads up to the next floor. The first few rooms are blasted out, but he feels like giving them a once over for anything not burnt.

On edge, Goodnight's senses seemed completely all over the place, his hands are shaking and his finger tight on the trigger guard. He too checks each room compulsively to see anything, his body crossed that there won't be any more horrors like before.

Rick and Goodnight start running around the upper floor of the apartment complex looking for loot. Murdock follows behind, but slower and more patiently. Rick seems to be moving quicker and quicker through the rooms, becoming increasingly frustrated by the fact that there's nothing here. As he rushes from room to room, everything appears burnt and destroyed, completely useless.

Goodnight is taking more time to look in the rooms. He takes his time peering into each room and walking through the entire apartments. He notices a chain and lock across the front of the fridge. It looks rusty and weak which he's sure was caused by the fire. You can attempt to pick the lock, break it, or leave it alone.

Murdock is trailing behind the other two, and doesn't seem to be particularly interested in searching.

As Rick gets passed the first few rooms, he's visibly upset and is almost ready to leave this empty place. Just then, a man appears from out of one of the rooms. He looks sickly with sunken eyes and ragged clothes. He starts approaching you. He doesn't appear to be armed.

"Ah scavengers! Might I interest you fellas in some wares?"

As you turn your attention to the man approaching you, you gather that he does not appear to be a threat. He holds no weapons and with the clothes he's wearing, it would be impossible for him to carry a concealed weapon. The man has various sores on his arms, most likely from needles, and his skin is pale and discolored. The man is obviously a junkie. But nothing about his expression indicates that he wishes you harm or ill will. You don't feel threatened, but will obviously have to treat what he says with skepticism.

"Hello, hello! My name is Ricky. I live just down the hall there. I couldn't help but notice you fellas going through all the rooms. You must be scavengers. You see I run a small store out of my apartment; perhaps you would like to come take a look at what I've got? You won't beat my prices!"

Ricky appears to be genuine in what he's saying, but there's always the chance that it might be a trap. Maybe he's just a junkie looking to make a quick buck off of some scavengers for more drugs.

Whilst Ricky was talking to the mutant and the human, Goodnight dodged back to the room with the fridge to inspect it. It seemed as he saw from the outside, broken and worn from years of use and what looked like the blackened remains of some fire. He tapped it lightly with his gun to no avail and then bent down to inspect the lock. "This'll do nicely," he whistled to himself as he brought out his lockpicks, his scarred fingers crossed at the thought of the inside being busted and having to get one of the others to help losing two thirds of whatever was inside.

[NOTE: I'm not exactly sure what the rule on lockpicking is, but if you look on the Accessories page, the lockpick item says "Allows lockpicking doors or any container that it’s closed." It doesn't mention anything about having to make a roll. Therefore, I'm going to assume that if you're using the lockpick, it's an automatic success. I will delete the roll post.]

You fudge with the padlock a bit, but finally manage to get it open. As you're taking it off, you can't help but notice how heavy it is. You take off the slightly rusted chains and they slink noisily to the floor. The door handle is mostly rusted (you assume it's older than the chains) and a bit stubborn, but eventually it budges.

As you open the door, you're greeted with a disgusting, foul stench emanating from inside. It's different from the one downstairs, and seems to be the result of years of rotting, spoiling food. Your theory appears to be correct as the inside of the fridge is lined with white and black mold. You also notice on the inside that there are broken, filthy food containers, soiled boxes, and moldy milk cartons.

You glance at the inside of the door and discover two items: (1) Stale Stimpak, (1) Psycho.

Murdock never likes junkies, too unpredictable. He can even remembered from his before time, he had nothing but trouble with them.

He turned to hughes, "Mudock doesn't trust him. They are trouble."

Rick crosses his arms, nodding in agreement with Murdock. The soldier cant quite see what this guy is planning, but common sense says this is sketchy as hell. Hughes sets a hand on his holster, and holds out the other to signal Ricky to stay back

"We're fine, friend. Just leave us in peace, nyeh?"
Hughes make a glance to Murdock, before locking eyes with the junkie once again.

Goodnight, pocketing the drugs, goes back to the rest of the group. Slapping his arms on the other two's shoulders he says to them "what do you say guys, it's not like he's gonna hurt us. How bout we follow him in. What's the worse that can happen?" Truth be told, Goodnight didn't like this man. His company was making him uneasy and a foul taste was rising to the top of his mouth. He didn't trust him either but he figured with the three of them and a bit of careful surprise they could sort out just about most things that came their way in his "store."
