Murdock steps forward, puffs out his chest, filling the hall, and growls at the junkie "you leave now."

Ricky seems taken aback at your barking, but ultimately unfazed. Perhaps the years of drug use has made him unable to process the situation accordingly. Or perhaps he's on something now that's giving him nerves of steel.

"Please, I have various wares for sale, very cheap. Just follow me to my apartment. Come, come."

Ricky turns around and motions for you guys to follow him as he starts walking down the hall, back to the apartment he came out of. When he gets to the door, he stops just outside the door and watches your group to see that you follow.

Murdock seems disheartened that his attempt to intimidate this guy failed. He turns to the other two and shrugs, "do we follow?"

Hughes nods to Murdock, tapping his holster to signal caution. The whole scene seems sketchy, but the three could take a junkie or two. Rick motions forward and starts slowly walking behind Ricky. The soldier keeps a hand on his holster as the party makes their way to wherever the squatter was taking them.

"So, ah, what kind of stuff do you have? Cause I dont take jet."
Rick's combat training is firing on all cylanders as they progress through the hotel, this is a really damn bad idea. He grips his pistol as they approach the room Ricky was taking them to.

As you walk down the hall toward Ricky's room, you see him smile and go through his doorway. Approaching the room, the first thing you notice is the numerous mounds of objects piled against the walls. Threatening to collapse and flood the room at any moment are toasters, radios, kitchen utensils, some watches, straps of leather, and various other things in differing states of disrepair.

"Welcome to Ricky's Place to Buy Things! You name it, we probably got it somewhere around here. Anything catch your interest?"

You ask the man what exactly he has for sale. He laughs heartily and waves both of his arms around the room indicating that the mounds of random objects are his inventory.

"Look around and find something ya like! All prices are final."

A cursory glance around the place reveals that there's obviously nothing actually useful in this place. Seems to be mostly scrap and broken electronics.

Glancing over the mounds of junk, Rick rolled his eyes and groaned. Something along the lines of 'I had better not get some disease' crossed his mind. Rick would lean down to look at a pile of old clothing, wondering if anything of use could be found. The soldier was in need of some gauze, and maybe a gas mask, maybe this squatter has some clean cloth?

"You wouldn't happen to have some heavy rags, and rubbing alcohol?" He looked up at the junkie "Maybe rope?"
Now, Hughes wasn't expecting anything in particular. If this guy has anything he needs, he wasn't gonna pay for it that's for damn sure.

Goodnight peered into the junk piles, his hands placed tightly behind his back and his lips were locked into the shape of a whistle; a strange tune emanating from his mouth. Occasionally he would stick out his guns, knocking bits and pieces off the piles the sounds of metal clanking as they fell down the piles rang out through the silent room. Finally, he straightened himself and looked at Ricky in the eyes, a strange smile splayed on his lips. "What's the most valuable thing ya' got Ricky. Tell me, where's the good stuff at?"

Goodnight and Rick seemed to ask their questions almost simultaneously. Ricky, surprisingly, appeared to hear them both, and without a word sprung into the metallic piles. Searching frantically, Ricky tossed aside all sorts of objects, some of them whizzing past your heads. After a couple minutes of this, Ricky pops up yelling "Got it!"

He throws some objects on the ground at your feet. You look down and find before you about 6 ft of worn, lightly frayed rope, and a radio with wires hanging out the back. Ricky then slinks up next to Goodnight. He points out the radio and says "That the good stuff you're looking for?"

Walking back in front of you, he says, "That'll be 15 caps for the rope, thirty for the radio." He bends down and turns the radio on. Nothing but fuzz can be heard although you're surprised it still works.

Hughes looked at Goodnight with an eyebrow cocked, before turning back to the little squatter.

"Rope's barely usable, I'm just gonna shred it anyway. No point in charging for something useless, nyeh? Youre even freeing up room for more merchandise."

"No Ricky, that's not the good stuff indeed it's not even worthy of 'the stuff'. That is junk Ricky. Show me your guns, your ammo even your armour. Anything of actual value not a piece of shit radio that probably doesn't work within three metres of someone and a shit piece of rope that's frayed and broken." Goodnight's hand was on his belt, where his gun was holstered.

Murdock starts practically swimming through the piles, looking for any scrap he could turn around as parts or raw materials.

Ricky turns to Rick. His face scrunched in skepticism as he rubs his messy stubble on his chin.

"To be frank with you, I was looking to score some caps for some more Jet, but I suppose you have a point. If you want the rope you can have it."

Turning to Goodnight now, Ricky notices the hand on his pistol.

"Now wait a minute, there. Do I look like the kind of fellow that has guns an' fancy whosiwatsits? I'm tellin' ya that's the best I got! It's the only thing that works."

While Ricky is busy with Goodnight, Murdock loudly rummages through the scrap looking for something of value. He digs deeper and deeper into the pile and eventually comes across (2) Scrap Metal.

[Murdock can barter with Ricky for the Scrap Metal or you can attempt a stealth roll to steal them.]

The soldier sets a hand on Goodnight's soldier, shaking his head slightly and jabbing a finger towards the door. Rick knows this guy doesn't have anything decent, doubtful he's even got any junk rounds. There's really no point in sticking around, longer they're there higher the chance of getting stabbed or catching something.

"Lets just roll, nyeh?" He looks over to Ricky "No need to waste ammo."
Hughes offers a slight smile to the squatter, really the whole nice guy thing gets in the way pretty bad. The ammo concern was pretty honest too, there were barely enough rounds between them to last one firefight.

Murdock drops the scrap, not worth the effort. He walks back out into the hall with the others.

"Too many people here, anything good is gone. Junkie has what was left after good was gone. Maybe check another floor, but if it has people, nothing good there."

Ricky's face seems to lose its friendly glow. His expression contorts to a more annoyed one as he realizes that he's not going to be able to get any caps out of these scavengers.

"Well then what good are ya to me if you ain't gonna spend any damn caps? Get the fuck out! Out, out!"

He begins moving toward you making shooing motions with his hands. You back out of his apartment slowly and when you're all outside, Ricky yells "Good riddance!" and slams the door in your faces.

The rest of the apartment complex seems to be a mix of rubble and fire. It would not be safe to explore the rest of the rooms, nor does it seem like there would be any valuable loot anyway. Your group makes the decision to leave and perhaps venture elsewhere.
