Into the Heart of the Machine (Part 1) [VOLT-Y666, Omni - CLOSED]

Omni studies the metal plate on the door closely, his fingers reaching out to attempt to pry it open, if possible. "There has to be a way in...a lock, a code...something" he murmurs quietly,almost to himself as he continues fiddling with the metal plate.

Under VY's intense strength, the metal plate bends and warps in its place becoming weaker and weaker. The metal plate eventually falls off the wall completely and crashes to the ground with a loud noise, echoing through the room. As VY prepares herself to be prepared for whatever on the other side of the door, Omni takes a look at what was behind the metal plate on the wall.

A small panel with number pad has been revealed. There's a small screen above the number pad with four blank spaces on it. This is obviously the place for a password for the door, but you have no idea what the password could be. How will you get through the door?

Omni sighed, rubbing his chin as he attempted to figure out what to do regarding this numpad. This would prove a problem. He did not know the code, nor did he have anyway of interfacing with the numpad and attempting to hack the door. It was obvious that the group they had followed within had the code... He cursed in frustration, pulling out his laspistol. He would not be stopped from his attempts and stripping whatever tech might be had in this factory by a locked door. "Vy, I'm shooting this fucking pad. If that does not work, we are going to have to break the door down, or wait for whoever is in there to come back out."

Standing back, Omni launches a laser shot right into the center of the control. There's a fiery explosion and several sparks shoot out. The pad then goes dark, some of it is even melted now. The door begins to rumble and you can hear gears turning inside the walls. Suddenly, the door begins to raise up slowly to a horrific, grating noise.

After a few seconds, the door is finally opened. Before you now is a room quite like the one you just exited, but larger and with two tunnels that slope downward and into darkness. You would focus on which tunnel to enter were it not for the sight before you.

You have caught up to the men from before, only now they are a burned, melted mass on the floor with only a few limbs and rags recognizable. Standing near the smoking soldiers, you find the source of the burning jets; two Mr. Gutsys are floating about and turn to face you.



"MORE COMMUNIST SCUM COME PLUNDER AMERICAN SECRETS."
"EXPERIENCE THE BURNING FLAME OF FREEDOM."

The Gutsys come rushing toward you.

The two Gutsys will attack first, and then Omni and VY will get their turns in whatever order they post.

For the this battle, (since weapon damages haven't been updated yet) we'll say Omni's WPN is 10, and VY's is 10.

The sight of the molten corpses brings a metallic sigh to the wary assaultron, her head tilting in bewilderment as she scans over both bots hovering over them. The light beaming from the battle thirsty cyclops intensifies and focuses on them as they begin their assault.

 She tenses up and attempts to move out of the line of fire, but it is far too late. A scorch mark is left on her breastplate after searing a hole through her dark cloak. A backward stumble is taken as a creaky, mechanical bellow echoes from within her, rage enveloping her psyche totally as she throws herself into the fray. Both hilts at her sides are firmly latched onto and she whips her machetes out, spinning the deadly, disgustingly sharp blades deftly as she charges straight on at the bot that shot her.

"HOW DARE YOU?"

The low, grumbling thunder of VY's vocals is shouted clear across the room as she swings her blades at the assailant.

"I'LL SHOW YOU 'COMMUNIST FILTH' YOU LEVITATING PILE OF SCRAP METAL!"


(With her old system her machetes get +48 to rolls, stats + armor bonus + a +10 from her weapon specialist perk. Not sure if the last bonus is particularly clear on her sheet, so I thought I'd let you know.)

Crying out in shock, Omni stumbles backwards, trying to out some distance between himself and the vicious robots attacking him. He fires wildly, pulling the trigger on his weapon again and again. "Crap! Bring them down, bring them down!" He cries out to Vy.

[I'm not sure yet how perks and weapons will fit into the new system; I'm still working on it. In the meantime, I hope it will be acceptable to battle without the perk bonuses and just have me be more in your favor.]

The laser wound doesn't phase VY at all. She quickly draws her blades and slashes at the Gutsy her red eye intently focused on her target. Her blades pierce the outer shell of the Gutsy and make a clean cut on the side of its metal body.

Omni, thinking quick on his feet dodges out of the way of the flame just in time. He does a quick roll and lands on one knee, firing back at the Gutsy with his laser pistol. Its view blocked by its own flame, the Gutsy is hit and stumbles back a bit before catching itself. There is now a singe mark on the outside of its shell.

Both Gutsys now enraged:
"SURRENDER COMMIE SCUM."

The Gutsy 1 now ignites his flamethrower in an attempt to take advantage of VY's close proximity. Flames erupt out the front of Gutsy 1 toward VY.

Gutsy 2 attempts a laser shot at Omni, launching a blast in his direction.

VY's beam of light switches from one gutsy to the other rapidly as she struggles to keep up with both of them. With every burst of sudden movement the assaultron takes her chassis makes loud and exaggerated sounds in protest, though they are quickly lost within the sounds of battle.

A sudden rise in temperature in the air to her front gives her all the information she needs to know that the irate gutsy is about to do something stupid. Her head is the first thing to whip backward, followed by her torso before powerful legs twist up and to the side and she performs a highly athletic reverse bicycle kick. Both feet clang noisily against the ground of the ruins in a landing as graceful as that of a veteran ballerina. The tension building in the air is broken as the flames shot toward her by the now livid gutsy miss completely.

"You're going to have to do better than tha... - NO, MASTER OMNI!"

The assaultron's celebration is quickly ended as she turns only to see Omni be hit by the second gutsy, not even quite noticing where the bolt struck. The light shining from her eye begins pulsing rapidly, a wild flicker inspired by conflicting emotions rising within her. She cannot flee this battle but she also cannot allow Omni to fall here because of her incompetence causing her to be unable to protect him. Only one course of action seems logical at this point to VY and she wastes no time in putting thought into motion.

With both machetes spun skillfully within her trained hands that pulsing light intensifies even further, becoming reddened, eerie and more sinister before suddenly shutting off... completely. Darkened ruins might give her a slight disadvantage if anything, but probably would not matter against two opponents.

"FIND THE EXIT, I'LL BE OUT SHORTLY," is what trembles out from her before she rushes toward the last known location of the gutsy she has already started tearing into, slashing angrily within the dark.

[VY's attack MISSES.]

The lights suddenly go dark and VY, now enraged at the sight of her injured master, begins slashing wildly in the dark. But the darkness proves disadvantageous, more so than VY initially thought. Her first wave of attacks miss the Gutsys. They back up towards the wall in an attempt to gain strategic positioning,

Both Gutsys light and fire their flamethrowers in order to push any advances by VY and to illuminate the room. Both flames shoot off in the wrong direction as they see VY to the side of where they shot.

"THINK YOU CAN WIN IN THE DARK? AMERICA WILL LIGHT UP YOUR CARCASS WITH FREEDOM."

The Gutsys now position themselves near Omni. He is still on the ground hunched over as a result of the laser shot that pierced his lower abdomen.

The ramblings of both bots as they near Omni does nothing but infuriate VY further. Missing them has already pissed her off and them firing off their weapons at her does nothing at all to calm her down. The glow of their weapons is all she has to go on, but she charges at them anyway. Sprinting through the dark with the metallic clanking of her feet heard against the floor with each and every step, both blades are spun into a reverse grip before she again slices at the last known position of the bots.

She will not let them kill Omni here today, they must be stopped even if it means that her own life has to be put at risk. The Volts would never forgive her if she allowed him to die and she knew very well that she'd never be able to forgive herself either. She screams out to Omni, hoping her cries won't be in vain.

"Master Omni, get away from there! you need to retreat right NOW!"

VY rushes the bots, slashing her blades with all her might and fury. In pitch black darkness, the only thing to be seen is VY's deep red eye. She approaches the Gutsys and with a heavy slice, manages to cut both the Gutsys clean in two.

Just as soon as she does, however, both of the Gutsys explode creating a large burst of flame and force all throughout the room. The shockwave sends Omni and VY back toward the far wall. Slamming into the concrete and pressed by the force of the explosion, VY's internal power source is knocked loose and Omni loses consciousness.

The darkness fades into more darkness and both lay there, vulnerable to whatever else lurks in this place.
