Throwing Dice Empty
PostSubject: Throwing Dice   Throwing Dice EmptyMon Sep 04 2017, 14:39

Your character will affront all kind of challenges and problems. How to face them is up to you but the success rate of your chosen actions will be a matter of pure luck.

Each time your character is going to perform an action it will have to describe it and then the player will have to throw a dice. Most actions will require to throw one 100 sided dice roll, from now on referred as 1d100. After throwing the dice the higher the result the better the action will be performed. Some actions are more challenging than others and might require a minimum dice roll to be considered successful, for example fixing some Pre-War machinery might require getting a minimum of 70 on a 1d100 dice roll. The minimum threshold to surpass can be put by Moderators or the own players, if the players challenge themselves they will gain an experience bonus, even if they aren't completely successful on their actions.

Perks and SPECIAL stats will give bonuses to different dice throws. As your character levels up it will be able to specialise on several actions and thus become more adept at things like combat, diplomacy, stealth and so on.

Here are some examples:
Example 1:
My character is in front of a tightly locked safe. It knows that there are several important documents inside, vital documentation needed to perform an assassination. My character has expertise with explosives and a +30 bonus with Explosive related dice rolls, and on its inventory there is a Time-bomb, the most logic and easy option would be prying open the safe with explosives but this might risks damaging the documents, ultimately my character decides to lockpick it, even if it doesn't has any lockpicking related perks.

Since it is a challenging action I decide to impose myself a minimum threshold of 75 or more to succeed. My character is lucky and I get a 97! Since I haven't only gotten the necessary minimum but also surpass that number by a great degree a Moderator decides to reward me with extra loot, in this case some shotgun ammo and a small diamond, valued in 400 caps.

Since Perks give bonuses to dice rolls it is possible to surpass 100, if a character manages to do so then the action will be considered EXTREMELY CRITICAL and will have devastating effects, in combat means instant death and in other non combat related actions it will grant extremely good rewards.

Example 2:
My character instead of attempting to open the safe on its own contacts an expert thief to open it for him. This thief (Who can be an NPC or a real player character who will get a small reward) has a Level 3 Lockpicking Perk. The Thief, who if its an NPC can be controlled by one Moderator or the Character who wants to do the action, manages to get a perfect 100 on the dice roll, to this natural 100 we have to add the +30 that the Perk Grants us and that gives us a total of 130! In this occasion since it is considered and EXTREMELY CRITICAL action the Thief doesn't only finds the documents that we sought, but also an extremely valuable reward like several Fusion Cores or great caché of bottlecaps and jewellery.

When it comes to throwing dice just like high rolls means a success low rolls equals to a failure, the lower the dice roll the worse. In combat situations receiving an attack with a 100 or attempting to avoid a hit or a projectile and getting a 0 will almost always lead to a death. If you die someone with the correct equipment or medical perks might attempt to revive you, if your death has been the result of an EXTREMELY CRITICAL action, be it either at failing to dodge or receiving the attack, then your body will be eviscerated beyond any help, in those cases your character ir irreversibly dead and there is nothing you can do except create a new character.

Sure! My bad for not being clear enough. When you are going to write a new post you have
under it a place to do dice rolls like this one. You simply have to decide the dice to use and write the number of dice to use. Throwing Dice Sin_ty10
